Clutchcity.net Notes on Brendan Haywood
At 7-feet tall and almost 270 pounds, Brendan Haywood is an imposing force in the paint, particularly within 5 feet of the basket, where he's a terror. Averaged 12.3 points on over 59% shooting from the field to go with 7.3 boards and 3.6 blocks per contest at UNC his senior season. Amassed a triple-double against Miami with 18 points, 14 boards and 10 blocks in just 27 minutes of action. Loved by his teammates for his one-lining, comic ability.

"Brendan is a monster in the paint," said LA Lakers forward Mark Madsen. "He has the ability to dominate a game. He is a guy who really changes shots."

Strengths of Brendan Haywood
Big and strong. A tremendous amount of upside to his game. Shoots a high percentage (59%) and is an excellent finisher with a nice touch around the hoop. Blocks shots well and has nice hands. Improved a great deal during his time at North Carolina.
Weaknesses of Brendan Haywood
One of the most criticized players ever at UNC. Awful free throw shooter (51% as a senior). Needs to rebound the ball better than he does, given his size. Has to be more consistent. Some question his heart and desire and was jokingly called "Brenda" by rival fans. Gets most of his points off slams around the hoop and doesn't have much in the way of offensive moves.
Haywood on the Rockets?
If the Rockets move Kelvin Cato, they will probably be looking for a center in this draft with a later pick. Haywood is a possible selection, though Rockets fans would find many of the problems that plagued Cato (motivation, limited offensive game) also haunt Haywood. The scary thing? One of the athletes he admires is Serge Zwikker. No joke.
