Fizer's last-second jumper gives Bulls win over slumping Rockets

JANUARY 26, 2003 2:35 PM  |  BOX SCORE  |  HISTORY VS. BULLS

Pain, pain, pain.

Cuttino Mobley converted a three-point play with 12.4 seconds left to tie the game at 98, but Marcus Fizer simply muscled up a desperation 6-foot shot that went in with 0.4 seconds on the clock to help the Bulls escape with a 100-98 win in Chicago.

The loss is the Rockets fourth in a row and drops them to 23-19 on the season.

Yao Ming (6-9 shooting, 14 points, 8 boards) couldn't be contained by the Bulls late in the fourth, but the Rockets' ineptitude on this night was capped well by Bulls announcer Johnny "Red" Kerr, who shouted in amazement about the Rockets offense and Yao's role in it, "This guy is unstoppable and Houston doesn't get him the ball!"
