Glen Rice's fairly brief Rocket career came to an end Tuesday.

In what can only be described as a strange deal, the Rockets shipped Glen Rice to the Utah Jazz along with their first round pick in 2004 (lottery protected) and potentially another first round pick (acquired via the Bryce Drew trade with Chicago) for Jazz stiff John Amaechi, a second round pick and another conditional second rounder.

Utah has not been able to get anyone to play for them this season so they have the cap room to take on additional salary in the deal. As a result of the deal, the Rockets will get a trade exception worth about $6.5 million.

The Rockets goal was clearly to cut costs in the move, and they did so in order to take immediate action. The Rockets signed Kings free agent forward Jim Jackson Tuesday with their new-found cap room.
