In a surprising move, the Rockets brought back the player they waived four days ago, opting to waive someone else instead.
Houston signed Alton Ford Sunday for the the second time this season, putting Torraye Braggs on waivers.
The Rockets had signed Ford back on November 9th when Maurice Taylor went on suspension, but when Mo returned on November 19th, Ford was waived. Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy had expressed that the 6-foot-9, 275 pound forward had a future in the league but that the Rockets simply didn't have room.
Then came today's surprise.
No word yet on if Braggs did something to make the Rockets change their mind, but Braggs, who was built like a Mack truck, was let go, opening the way for the 22-year old Ford.
Despite being a second-round pick of the Utah Jazz (#57 overall) in the 1998 NBA Draft, Braggs had never seen action in an NBA regular season game before signing on with the Rockets this season.
The 6-foot-8, 250 pound forward out of Xavier averaged 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12 minutes of action over 11 games with the Rockets this season.
