Ford Waived... To Make Room For Ward?
For the second time this season, the Rockets have waived Alton Ford.

The 6-foot-9, 275 pound forward was picked up by the Rockets back on November 9th, only to be waived 10 days later. But four days after that, the Rockets changed their mind, waived Torraye Braggs and picked Ford back up.

Ford averaged 1.7 points and 1.2 boards in just under 5 minutes a game in 9 contests.

But why cut him now? Sure the Rockets acquired Clarence Weatherspoon, possibly making Ford's role completely insignificant, but the Rockets only have one player on the IR (Adrian Griffin) and he doesn't look to be ready to return.

Speculation is the Rockets are preparing to sign Charlie Ward.

Ward was acquired by the Phoenix Suns in the recent Stephon Marbury-Antonio McDyess blockbuster and is expected to be waived before January 10th due to a clause in his contract which will allow the Suns to save a few million bones by waiving him.

Rumors persist that if (or when) the Suns waive him, Ward could return to play for former coach Jeff Van Gundy, who could use a more experienced backup point guard after moving Moochie Norris.

Time will soon tell.
