Management sent Ryan Bowen to the injured list with left knee tendinitis Tuesday, making room for rookie point guard Andre Barrett.
The Rockets needed Barrett after deciding to sit Charlie Ward out Tuesday night with a sore right knee.
In his first game with the Rockets Tuesday night in Sacramento, Barrett was fairly impressive, hitting both three-pointers he attempted, finishing with 6 points, 3 boards and 2 dimes in 18 minutes of play.
I was personally most impressed with his speed as he ran extremely well and showed an ability to push the ball.
Ironically, it was Barrett and former Rocket Eddie Griffin who were the prizes of the top recruiting class in the nation in 2000 for Seton Hall. Barrett was considered the best passer coming out of high school at that time.
Barrett, standing just 5-foot-10 (though arguably shorter than that), averaged 17.6 points on 46% shooting and 5.9 assists for Seton Hall last year, his senior season.
He went undrafted this past summer, but several teams called and he opted for his hometown Knicks (Barrett grew up in the Bronx).
The Knicks waived him on October 25th, just before the season opened, and the Rockets picked him up three days later.
