The Rockets signed Josh Davis on Thursday, as expected. What wasn't expected was they waived a player at the same time.
Stephen Graham was cut by the Rockets Thursday and in his place came Davis, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward out of Wyoming.
The 25-year old Davis had very short stints with the Hawks and Bucks, sandwiched around a longer stint with the Sixers last season. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.9 boards in just under 8 minutes a night with Philly.
Most recently, Davis was playing with the Idaho Stampede of the CBA. He was the MVP of the CBA in 2004, averaging 18.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists a night.
According to the Houston Chronicle earlier in the week, the Rockets were granted a 16th roster spot exemption due to the amount of injuries they have, so they should not have "needed" to cut Graham.
Graham averaged 4.25 points in just under 10 minutes a game in 4 contests with the Rockets.
