With their inferiority on the line, the Minnesota Timberwolves looked victory straight in the eyes and laughed, for victory had never seen the likes of Mark Madsen.
Simply put, we witnessed the greatest individual performance in NBA Lottery Race history Wednesday night. Inept? Pathetic? Historic? All words that aptly describe the play of Madsen, who has no contemporary in this league or any other.
In the biggest tank job of the season, the Timberwolves were successfuly able to dump off a 7-point edge with 2:20 left by sending Madsen out to take 15 shots (making just 1) and 7 three-pointers (making none) -- all coming in two overtime sessions! Off-The-Mark, who came in having shot 9 threes total over his 6-year career, simply willed Minnesota to the loss.
"There's Mark Madsen and then there is the rest of us," said Grizzlies guard Bobby Jackson.
