Rocket free agent guard Keith Bogans is returning to Orlando to play for the Magic, preparing to ink a 3-year pact with the Florida club on Thursday.
Since Bogans is a restricted free agent who had received a qualifying offer from Houston, the Rockets have the opportunity to match the deal. While there has been no official word from the Rockets as of yet, Bogans' agent, Michael Harrison, is saying Houston has opted not to match the offer sheet.
"Orlando was on his short list," said Harrison. "He loved it down there and it all worked out. He couldn't be happier."
Bogans was acquired by the Rockets in a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for Lonny Baxter back in early February.
In 33 games with the Rockets, Bogans was a decent defender for Jeff Van Gundy, but proved to be an offensive liability, hitting just 39.5% from the floor and just over 31% from long range.
I don't consider this a tremendous loss, but it's not helping the fan perception that the Rockets have done diddly squat to improve this team this summer.
