Feeling Blue? '01 Rockets Promo Videos
In Houston Rockets history, has there ever been a worse decision than the one that changed the Rockets colors and uniforms to Buck Rogers Blue?

For the 1995-96 season, a year in which the franchise was attempting to win a third straight title, the Rockets inexplicably switched from classic red to space-themed blue, introducing oddly-pinstriped uniforms that could have passed for NASA pajamas.

Longtime Rockets fans still cringe about the "blue period", which lasted 8 seasons.

Think about it: In recent years, the Rockets have dusted off their championship classic uniforms on Flashback Nights and even sported retro duds from the 60's/70's, but you've never seen (and may never see) the Rockets take the mothballs off the blue jerseys.

Nonetheless, there were some good memories during those years, like the continuation of the pairing of Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler, the Charles Barkley trade in 1996, the highway robbery of the Grizzlies to get Steve Francis in 1999 and the lottery win and drafting of Yao Ming in 2002.

Here are two promo videos that the Rockets used for the 2001-02 season. The first is a commercial for the team, which was put together in the style of a blockbuster movie trailer. The second is the arena introduction video used that year at the Summit/Compaq Center.
