Yao Ming was spotted on the sidelines at the Houston Texans game against the Detroit Lions this afternoon.

Fox sideline TV reporter Nischelle Turner caught Yao on the air for a few questions.

"I heard American football is the number one sport in the country," said Yao. "This is my first time to be here to watch a game live. It's very interesting."

Yao was asked what position he would play if he was on an NFL team.

"Uhhhh, the kicker," said Yao.

It wasn't all NFL -- Yao did get asked a question about the Rockets prospects this season.

"I think Ron Artest really was the player we needed," said Yao. "Of course we have Brent Barry join us with a lot of experience, championship experience. This team right now really has some talent and can challenge for a championship, but talk about championship in '09, maybe in June some time. Right now we just need to work day by day and be the best we can be."
