The bad news is the Rockets took one step closer to the lottery this season.
The good news is the former lottery pick they scooped up from the Knicks played pretty well.
With David Andersen out with a back issue, rookie Jordan Hill saw his first significant action in a Rockets uniform Sunday night in Houston's 110-107 overtime loss to the Pistons.
The 6-foot-10 forward made the minutes count. Logging career highs in minutes (23), points (12) and rebounds (8), Hill showed some flashes of what made him the 8th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Hill needs some refinement, but he ran the pick and roll well. He showed good speed and athleticism, was solid defensively at times and didn't shy away from contact. One play in particular that stuck out to me was an attempt to block a Ben Gordon drive. However, what most impressed me about Hill was how active he was -- specifically, how he ran the floor. Despite his size, the Arizona product never hung back after getting a board.
Here's a video compilation of Hill's highlights from the Pistons game. You can see why Hill, at just 22 years of age, has a lot of potential.
