The Houston Rockets preseason schedule for 2010-11 has not been released or finalized yet, but ClutchFans obtained word on Tuesday of what is currently expected to be the slate of games.
The Rockets will open the preseason on October 5th in the home of their NBDL affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, as they'll take on Dwight Howard and the Magic.
On October 7th, the Rockets come back home for the Toyota Center preseason debut to face Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs (which will also be Houston's first look at Tiago Splitter, the former teammate of Luis Scola).
The Rockets stay home for a back-to-back, facing Danny Granger and the Indiana Pacers on the 9th and the LeBron-less Cleveland Cavaliers on the 10th.
Then the schedule gets interesting.
We are not allowed to discuss exact dates because they haven't been released yet, but the Rockets are going to China to play a pair of contests against the New Jersey Nets, expected to be somewhere between the Cavs game and the team's final two preseason games: in San Antonio on the 21st and in Dallas against the Mavericks on the 22nd.
Of course, when the schedule was initially created and New Jersey was selected as the opponent for Yao Ming and the Rockets, Chinese forward Yi Jianlian was a member of the Nets. He has since been dealt to the Washington Wizards in a post-draft/pre-free agency trade.
Update: As pointed out by hsf09, the Rockets will also face the Spurs in San Antonio on October 21st.
