For a team holding just the 46th pick of the draft, the Houston Rockets did quite well for themselves.

The Rockets drafted USC guard De’Anthony Melton at 46, getting tremendous value in selecting a guy who has enormous defensive potential, but they didn’t stop there. The Rockets acquired the 52nd pick from the Utah Jazz for cash, selecting 6-foot-8 wing Vince Edwards out of Purdue, then signed undrafted power forward Gary Clark to a two-way contract. All three players will be on Houston’s Summer League squad.

Following up on our pre-draft podcast, David Weiner joins the show to discuss our thoughts on how the Rockets did in the draft. We also talk about the strong speculation that the Rockets shopped Eric Gordon and what that could have entailed, the growing LeBron James-to-Houston pessimism and what a Carmelo Anthony buyout might mean for Houston.
