Rockets power forward Jordan Hill is expected to see solid minutes backing up Luis Scola this season, but at 6-foot-10, 235 pounds with good shotblocking skills, the 23-year old has some potential as a pivot.

Hill played some center last season and started at the position in summer league this year. For his part, he says he’s ready to roll at either spot.

“It doesn’t matter,” said Hill. “I just want to go out there and play. If they need me as a five, I’ll do my best to go out there and battle and get rebounds, do what I have to do. If they need me at the four, I’m going to do my best to do the things I need to do for that position. I just want to go out there, have fun and just play basketball.”

Hill stayed in Houston for workouts this offseason trying to better his game for 2010-11. The former Arizona Wildcat, who arrived in February’s blockbuster Rockets trade that also brought in Kevin Martin and Jared Jeffries, said that there is still a lot for him to absorb during training camp and preseason about the Rockets schemes.

“Last year, coming in being in the trade in the middle of the season, I didn’t get the chance to figure out the offense and Houston’s defense as well as I wanted to,” said Hill. “But now, this is a chance that I can pay attention, watch, ask questions and try to pick up the things I need to pick up to help me improve on my game.”
