Randy Foye
6-3, 205 lb senior PG out of Villanova

There was a reason why Randy Foye was the Big East Player of the Year in 2006. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 20.5 points and 3 assists a night as a senior, leading Villanova to a 28-5 record, including 14-2 in the brutal Big East. Foye, who scored 20 or more points in 21 games as a senior, also is an outstanding rebounder, grabbing 5.8 caroms a night. If he can bring the same toughness and passion to an NBA team that he did to the Wildcats, one NBA general manager is going to come away lucky on draft day. |
Foye is fearless. He's an excellent scorer with great isolation skills - really good at creating his own shot. Able to blow by most defenders and finish strong. An NBA-ready body. An improved three-point shooter, up to 35% as a senior from his 30% days as a freshman and sophomore. Excellent rebounder for his size. At 6-foot-3, has good size for the point guard position. |
Another point guard without true point guard skills - Foye is more of a combo guard. Too small to play the two consistently. Is prone to taking unwise shots and can disappear offensively during stretches. Not a great passer. |
While I don't personally believe that the Rockets will have Foye above others that could be available at #8 due to position, the Rockets could do far worse than selecting the scoring demon out of Villanova. Foye would give the Rockets the toughness and scoring punch out of the point guard position that they lost when Bobby Sura went down and Mike James was sent to Canada. |
